Over the 30 years, colloidal quantum dots (also referred as nanocrystal quantum dots) have been extensively investigated because of the promises that they provide based on their size, morphology and composition-tuned optoelectric properties. Additionally, colloidal quantum dots are free-standing as synthesized thereby provide solution-processability which can further be extended to low-cost manufacturing system. It has been realized that understanding and design the surface ligands during and after the synthesis is a key to further to control and boost the physicochemical properties.
